“Southern Charm” star Craig Conover has some strong opinions about Austen Kroll and Salley Carson’s complicated relationship.

During an appearance on “Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen,” Craig addressed his co-stars’ ongoing friends-with-benefits situation and explained why he doesn’t think it’s working.

Craig, who recently filmed Peacock’s “The Traitors” in Scotland, admitted that “a lot happened” while he was away. And apparently, Austen and Salley’s relationship hasn’t gotten any less complicated.

“Look, I love both of them. I don’t think it’s healthy what they’re doing,” Craig said.

The Sewing Down South founder suggested that the two are stuck in a situation that’s preventing either from moving forward.

“I don’t think it’s a sustainable relationship. I think they are hindering each other from moving forward, and it’s almost like this safety net that they have,” he explained.

Craig Conover Says Austen Kroll and Salley Carson Need to Make a Decision

Craig believes Austen and Salley’s arrangement could create problems if either decides to pursue a serious relationship with someone else.

“If they try to date other people, no one’s gonna be OK with their relationship now, and so they have to figure that out,” he said.

“Either date or don’t date,” Craig added, “but this middle-ground thing is, I think, not healthy.”

While Austen has expressed interest in keeping things casual, Salley recently admitted that her “soul is the happiest” when she’s with him.

She also acknowledged that jealousy becomes an issue whenever either tries to date someone new.

Of course, Craig has his own history with Salley.

During season 11 of “Southern Charm,” the two shared a flirtatious friendship that included a late night in Craig’s hot tub and his convincing Salley to buy backyard chickens.

Things became more complicated when newcomer Charley Manley entered the picture.

When Salley eventually decided to “shoot her shot” with Craig, he made it clear that he only saw her as a friend.

Southern Charm Season 12 premieres on Thursday, November 12, 2026, at 9/8c on Bravo.
