Whitney Fransway and Kenny Martin are engaged after Kenny proposed during a trip to Italy.

The “In the City” stars got engaged on September 19 at Hotel Caesar Augustus in Anacapri, overlooking the Bay of Naples. The location already had special meaning for the couple, as they stayed at the same hotel while celebrating Whitney’s birthday last summer.

Whitney, 35, told People, “I was in complete shock, shaking and crying, but it was the easiest ‘yes’ for me. I feel so seen and supported with Kenny.”

The ‘In the City’ Star Secretly Planned the Proposal With Whitney’s Family

Before the trip, Kenny secretly flew to Florida to ask Whitney’s parents for their blessing. He told Whitney he was traveling for work so she wouldn’t suspect anything.

“It felt scandalous, but I’m so glad I did that in person,” Kenny recalled. “We were all crying.”

With Whitney’s parents on board, Kenny got to work planning the proposal. He decided to surprise her with another romantic dinner at Hotel Caesar Augustus, where they had celebrated her birthday the previous summer.

With help from Whitney’s manager, Kenny arranged a fake brand partnership with the hotel to keep his plans under wraps. He rented the same private dining area and added flowers, candles and a violinist.

There was one small problem. When Kenny arrived, he discovered that the flowers were pink instead of white. Fortunately, the florist replaced them about 90 minutes before the proposal.

Despite the last-minute hiccup, Kenny pulled off his plans, giving Whitney an even more romantic version of their special date.

Whitney Shows Off Her Engagement Ring as the Couple Continues Celebrating

Whitney had no idea what Kenny was planning. When he got down on one knee, she was overcome with emotion. She also happened to be without a fresh manicure for the first time in six years!

Kenny proposed with an elongated cushion-shaped diamond on a gold band from a New York City jeweler.

Whitney couldn’t have been happier with his choice, telling the outlet, “[It] couldn’t be more me! It’s the most beautiful ring I’ve ever seen. I can’t stop staring at it.”

Whitney and Kenny met two years ago, and she moved from Los Angeles to New York City last year. Their relationship became a central storyline during the show’s first season as they navigated their future together while Kenny grieved his mother’s death.

The newly engaged couple also planned to continue celebrating in Spain with some of Whitney’s closest friends.
