Emira D’Spain explained why she tried to move away from one of the most uncomfortable storylines in “Next Gen NYC” season 2 instead of keeping the conflict going.

The drama began when Georgia McCann told Emira that Charlie Zakkour had allegedly called Emira’s boyfriend, Kevin Stefanick, gay. When Emira later confronted Charlie, he denied commenting.

Georgia also suggested Charlie said other things about Emira behind her back but said she would reveal those comments away from the cameras.

Now, Emira is revealing whether she ever had that conversation with Georgia — and how the larger situation affected her relationship with Kevin.

Emira D’Spain Never Asked Georgia What Else Charlie Allegedly Said

During an appearance on “Gabbing with Gib,” Emira was asked whether she ever followed up with Georgia about the additional comments she claimed Charlie had made.

“I didn’t,” she responded. “In that moment, I was kind of like, okay, well, clearly there’s more to this. I am going to just choose to believe the worst now rather than believe the best in someone. And I’m just going to protect myself and protect my relationship and my identity, my livelihood — away from this person.’”

Emira’s answer makes clear that learning exactly what else Charlie allegedly said was no longer her priority. By that point, she had decided that creating distance from him was more important than investigating every accusation.

She also had strong feelings about why Georgia brought the Kevin allegation to her in the first place.

“I think that was catty and calculated, and she was just trying to be like messy,” she said.

Emira did not completely write Georgia off, however. She said their conversations about what happened will continue at the reunion, and despite saying Georgia “did me dirty,” she hopes their friendship can eventually move past the conflict.

The Fallout Reached Kevin and Emira’s Relationship

The controversy did not stay contained to a disagreement among the “Next Gen NYC” cast. Emira said she was already thinking about the possible real-life consequences while filming and deliberately tried not to make the situation bigger.

Once the episodes aired, some of what she feared happened. Emira received hurtful messages and online hate, and Kevin also became a target of some of the reaction.

“And like, even some of it directed towards Kevin, and it put a strain on my relationship,” she stated. “And I could see all of that in my mind happening while we were filming. And that’s why I was trying my best to steer the conversation away from this.

Emira’s reluctance to keep the conflict going also stemmed from wanting to protect Kevin from being pulled further into the drama.

The issue remains unresolved among the cast, though, and Emira, Charlie, and Georgia will have another opportunity to address what happened during the “Next Gen NYC” season 2 reunion.
