Emily Simpson has some questions about Gina Kirschenheiter’s wedding plans with fiancé Travis Mullen.
Months after the “Real Housewives of Orange County” couple got engaged in Big Bear, California, Emily revealed she’s noticed a big difference between Gina’s excitement about the engagement and her enthusiasm for actually planning a wedding.
“[Gina] was super excited about the engagement, and she’s super excited about the ring. And she’s like super excited to show people the ring. She has two now, but then when you ask her about, like, the wedding planning or when the wedding is, then it just fizzles,” Emily said on the August 19 episode of Page Six’s “Virtual Reali-Tea” podcast. “It’s, like, the energy dies.”
Emily said her concern is partly about Travis and whether he and Gina have the same expectations about their future.
“She’s not sure, and I said, ‘I don’t know if that’s fair to Travis,’” Emily continued. “I was looking out for Travis because I don’t want her to be excited just about the ring but then not have that same excitement about planning the wedding and picking a date and going through with it.”
Emily Simpson Says Gina & Travis Need to ‘Get on the Same Page’
Gina raised eyebrows when she suggested that she and Travis could potentially wait years before walking down the aisle.
“I was like, ‘What are you talking about? Ten years?’” Emily said. “I think [Travis wants a big wedding] and so, I think she needs to have a conversation with him, and I think they need to get on the same page.”
Gina previously explained her thinking during the August 6 episode of “Watch What Happens Live.”
“I’m not planning a wedding. Honestly, I’m taking my time,” Gina said.
Rather than spending money on a wedding right away, Gina said she is prioritizing her children and financial future.
“I’m making investments, I’m saving for college. That’s my focus right now, and then once I’m through that I’m gonna throw a rager,” she explained.
Emily also dropped another unexpected detail about Gina and Travis’ future during her interview. When the subject of protecting Gina’s finances came up, Emily revealed that her friend has already signed a prenup.
“She already got that,” Emily said, before realizing she may have shared something Gina hadn’t intended to make public. “Maybe I shouldn’t have [said that].”
For now, Gina and Travis remain engaged, but no wedding date is on the calendar. Gina appears content to take her time while focusing on her family, investments and business goals before planning the celebration.
“The Real Housewives of Orange County” season 20 airs Thursdays at 8/7c on Bravo.
