Kristen Doute is opening up about one of the scariest moments she’s experienced since becoming a mom.
“The Valley” star shared on Instagram Stories on August 17 that her daughter, Kaia, had to be taken to the emergency room after developing a “super high” fever.
Kristen, 43, posted a photo of Kaia resting after the hospital visit and admitted the experience shook her.
“Little angel had a super high temp last night and we took her to the ER. this is the scariest part of being a mama 🙏🏼,” Kristen wrote.
She shares Kaia with fiancé Luke Broderick, 35. The couple welcomed their daughter in June 2025.
Kristen Doute’s Scary Mom Moment Comes after Kaia’s 1st Birthday Bash
Kristen did not share additional details about what caused the fever, but her post made clear how difficult the night had been.
The health scare came just a few months after Kristen and Luke celebrated Kaia’s first birthday with an elaborate Under the Sea-themed party.
Brittany Cartwright helped organize the celebration, which included a soft play area, swing set, pool and a station where young guests could “adopt” stuffed sea animals.
Kristen told People at the time that she and Luke were finally feeling like they could enjoy parenthood more fully.
“Luke and I feel like we are finally out of survival mode and can truly enjoy Kaia now, celebrating all her little milestones,” Kristen said. “She’s getting ready to walk, she has six teeth, she is so smart and inventive. I’m just in awe of how curious she is and how she tries to figure out every little thing.”
Kristen also credited Brittany with helping make Kaia’s big day special.
“Britt threw my baby shower for me, and so when I asked if she could also throw Kaia’s birthday, she said she would love nothing more,” she said. “It was her party planner, and from day one she was sitting with me going through my Pinterest and hand-selecting every detail.”
One of Kristen’s favorite moments from the birthday was watching Kaia dig into her smash cake.
“She was like, ‘Let’s get down!’” Kristen recalled. “That truly was my favorite part of the day, along with all my friends who brought their kids to swim and to just celebrate Kaia. It was such a sweet day.”
