How Dorinda Medley Made Her Money Before RHONY
Medley was born Dorinda Cinkala on December 13, 1964, in Great Barrington, Massachusetts. After graduating from Franklin & Marshall College in 1986, she moved to Manhattan and worked for Liz Claiborne.
She later relocated to London and founded DCL Cashmere. The company attracted high-profile clients, including Princess Diana and actress Joan Collins.
Medley eventually returned to New York City and became involved in the city’s social and philanthropic circles.
Her second husband, Richard Medley, worked as a hedge fund adviser and served as chief economist for the U.S. House Banking Committee. The couple also participated in fundraising efforts before Richard died in November 2011.
What Was Medley’s RHONY Salary?
Medley’s exact “The Real Housewives of New York City” salary has not been publicly confirmed.
She began appearing on RHONY before becoming an official cast member for season 7 in 2015. Medley remained a full-time Housewife through season 12.
Medley announced her departure in August 2020 and later revealed that Bravo had fired her.
During an appearance on Bethenny Frankel’s “Just B” podcast, Medley reflected on the difficult period leading into her final season.
“I was very scared going into the season because not only was my life very intense with all the things…the house, my father, broke a rib, breaking up with John… So it was like, wow…I was sort of a, I was sort of a toothpick in an ocean. I didn’t get my voice out correctly,” she said.
Her relationship with Bravo didn’t end with RHONY. Medley later appeared in the “Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip” franchise and made appearances on “The Real Housewives of New Jersey.”
Dorinda Medley’s Businesses, Book & Other Income Sources
Medley’s income sources have extended beyond reality television.
Her early business success came through DCL Cashmere, which she launched while living in London. Years later, she turned one of her best-known RHONY catchphrases into the title of her memoir.
Medley published “Make It Nice” in 2021, giving readers a closer look at her life before, during, and after her time on RHONY.
Her continued presence within the Bravo universe also gives her opportunities related to appearances, events and other entertainment projects.
Bluestone Manor Is a Major Part of Her Real Estate Portfolio
One of Medley’s most recognizable assets is Bluestone Manor, her sprawling estate in Great Barrington.
The approximately 11,000-square-foot property has seven bedrooms and seven bathrooms. Medley had admired the home since childhood, when her grandfather and great-grandfather worked on the property as masons.
Richard purchased the estate for $2.115 million in May 2005, shortly before the couple married.
Medley listed the property for $4.9 million around the time of Richard’s death in 2011 but ultimately decided not to sell it. The estate has since become closely associated with her “RHONY” years thanks to the memorable cast trips filmed there.
Bluestone Manor has been estimated to be worth between $5 million and $6 million.
Medley has also made money from other real estate. She purchased a roughly 1,200-square-foot New York City apartment for $1.2 million in 2006. She listed it for $2.495 million in February 2022 and sold it for approximately $2.5 million several months later.
Dorinda Medley Lists Part of Bluestone Manor Property for Over $1 Million
Medley made new real estate moves in 2026, but she isn’t saying goodbye to Bluestone Manor.
In a July 29 interview with People, Medley revealed that she was selling a 3.7-acre parcel from the nearly 20 acres surrounding her estate for more than $1 million.
The parcel has its own private entrance and access road and is located minutes from downtown Great Barrington.
“I don’t use the land like they did when the home was first built. It isn’t necessarily for the property anymore,” Medley told People. “I hope whomever buys it builds a historical home here. Something that really fits into the spirit of this special, special place.”
The sale allows Medley to capitalize on part of the valuable property while retaining the home that became one of the most recognizable locations in “Real Housewives” history.
Bluestone Manor Returns to Bravo
Bluestone Manor is also returning to television.
The estate is featured in “The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip: Roaring 20th,” which brings together Housewives from different franchises for a road trip featuring familiar faces and locations.
The trip eventually reaches Bluestone Manor for a party, putting Medley and her Massachusetts estate back in the Bravo spotlight.
The season trailer shows “The Real Housewives of Rhode Island” stars Rosie DiMare and Kelsey Swanson getting into a confrontation at the property.
Medley quickly steps in.
“You can go outside to the driveway to do that,” she tells the women.
